Job Summary: BiCWEP projects aimed to contribute to the intellectual, physical, economic, social, and moral development of street vulnerable children, youth, and women in Bishoftu town through school feeding, women and youth economic enhancement equipping leaders, community care coalition (CCC)s and families to help children be a productive citizen. The Project Coordinator will lead, implement, and facilitate the smooth running of the BiCWEP Project program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public health, and livelihood development, and strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Responsibility:
1. Project Activity Planning
- Plan the delivery of the project activity with its budgets in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization and the signed agreement;
- Develop an annual budget and operation plan to support the program;
- Assess the strengths of the project and identify areas for improvement;
2. Project Organization:
- Ensure that project activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization;
- Oversee the collection and maintenance of data of the program for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization.
3. Lead the Project Implementation:
- Supervise program staff by providing direction, input, and feedback;
- Communicate with district government and other stakeholders to catalyze change that will support to improve program outcomes;
- Liaise with district government and other stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient program delivery;
- Coordinate the delivery of project components (service delivery demonstration, capacity building, advocacy and influencing; documentation and learning) to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
4. Control the Project:
- Write reports on the project for the Program office and for donors;
- Ensure that the project operates within the approved budget;
- Manage project expenditures according to established accounting policies and procedures;
- Ensure financial reports and supporting documentation for donors are prepared as outlined in donor agreements and are up to date;
- Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks;
- Champion the programmatic approach in the town for its success, package, and document for others to learn and influence;
5. Capacity Building
- In collaboration with the staff, makes assessments and analysis of the capacity of key staff and implementing field teams.
- Identify and recommend possible support to staff and field teams to build their capacity and facilitate project implementation.
- Co-facilitate in capacity building training of field staff.
- Facilitate humanitarian awareness training and related sessions targeting relevant project partners;
- Maintains regular communication and interaction with government office partners to facilitate and promote learning and information sharing with GTF.
6. Documentation, Learning, and Research
- Ensures proper documentation of GTF’s experiences and lessons are shared with the relevant units.
- Facilitates information sharing and learning between GTF and relevant Government partner offices, in the area of Child focused response
- Take part in the development of funding proposals for the program in line with the government and GTF Healthcare, Environment & WASH strategies to ensure the continuous delivery of services.
Job Requirements
Education and year of experience:
- B.A./MA in Social Sciences, Project Management, or B.Sc./MSc in Environmental/Public Health Sciences or Developmental studies or related fields;
- Minimum of 8 years of proven and progressive work experience, preferably in NGOs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of policies, strategies, and stakeholders related to the program;
- Proficiency in the use of computers (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, Internet);
- Good written and spoken English language and the local language (Afaan Oromo).
