Yesterday marked a meaningful milestone as Gudina Tumsa Foundation (GTF) and Eekkaa Xaafoo Sub-City Administration officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Legetafo Legedadhi Youth Social and Economic Empowerment Project (LLYSEE Phase Two) — a partnership built on trust, shared values, and proven impact.

For many years, GTF has been working closely with the community in Legetafo, supporting vulnerable groups through practical livelihood activities such as beekeeping and other income-generating initiatives. The first phase of the LLYSEE project empowered more than 700 young people through skill trainings in pottery, bamboo craft, weaving, basketry, and other creative fields.

Now, Phase Two sets an even bolder vision, empowering 1,500 youths with market-driven skills, sustainable livelihood opportunities, and holistic empowerment. With a total project budget of ETB 35,340,445, this five-year collaboration continues the journey of transforming the lives of marginalized youths in Eekkaa Xaafoo Sub-City.

In her address, Mrs. Lensa Gudina, Managing Director of GTF, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Sub-City Administration for its steadfast collaboration. She reflected:

“We are not only giving hope, we are doing practical things. We are here to support marginalized communities, and we must continue working together for the people we serve.”

She also shared GTF’s plan to replicate its successful English Boot Camp initiative, previously implemented in Karayou and Bishoftu, which has enabled many young participants to excel in their education both locally and abroad.

Mr. Chala Adare, Head of Eekkaa Xaafoo Sub-City Administration, commended GTF’s long-standing and tangible community impact, noting that:

“We have witnessed the real work of GTF for years. Many organizations speak in the name of communities, but few deliver practical results like GTF. We stand ready to deepen our cooperation for the good of our people.”

The signing ceremony, enriched with reflections, presentations, and heartfelt messages, reaffirmed a shared commitment, when purpose meets partnership, transformation follows.
