Overview

GTF is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Policy Analyst for a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded advocacy project in healthcare, nutrition, agriculture, financial inclusion, and women’s economic empowerment. The project targets the two largest regional states in Ethiopia—Oromia and Somali. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research and analysis on policies and laws, collecting and analyzing data, providing recommendations on new legislations and policies, and creating policy drafts under the direct supervision of the Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in policy analysis, excellent research skills, and a passion for driving positive change in the advocacy objectives set for this project.

Responsibilities

·       Identify, monitor, and evaluate policy developments directly or indirectly affecting the project’s advocacy efforts.

·       Conduct research and analysis on policies and laws.

·       Collect and analyze data to identify patterns and trends in collaboration with the project’s data analysts.

·       Provide recommendations on new legislation and policies.

·       Draft policy briefs, reports, and presentations to communicate research findings and recommendations.

·       Collaborate with project team and consultants to develop and implement strategic advocacy initiatives

·       Track and analyze relevant data and metrics to measure the effectiveness of policy efforts.

·       Represent the organization at policy meetings, conferences, and other key events.

Requirements

·       Proven experience as a Policy Analyst or relevant position.

·       Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information

·       Knowledge of policy analysis techniques and tools.

·       Tech-savvy, proficient in MS Office.

·       Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.

·       Excellent time-management and organizational skills.

·       Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner

·       Detail-oriented and efficient.

·       Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment

·       At least 8 years of experience in policy analysis or related field.

·       Proficient in English and local languages.

·       BSc/BA in public administration, public policy, law, economics, or relevant field.
