Overview
GTF is seeking a talented and dedicated Communication Officer to join our team. As a Communication Officer, under the direct supervision of the Managing Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all communication and public relations activities. You will be responsible for creating and implementing effective communication strategies to enhance the organization’s image and drive public engagement. The ideal candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a deep understanding of nonprofit organizations, and a passion for making a positive impact.
Responsibilities
· Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with our organization’s goals and objectives.
· Create and manage compelling content for various communication channels, including website, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
· Monitor and analyze media coverage to identify opportunities for improvement and proactively address any negative publicity.
· Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop key messages and ensure consistent brand voice.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and key influencers to maximize exposure and create positive media coverage.
· Plan and coordinate events, conferences, and media interviews, ensuring smooth execution and clear messaging.
Requirements
· Proven work experience in a communications role, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to a diverse audience.
· Proficient in using various communication tools and technologies, including social media platforms, content management systems, and media monitoring software.
· Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic communication plans.
· Exceptional interpersonal and networking skills, with a proven track record of building relationships with media professionals and stakeholders.
· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and drive innovative solutions.
· At least 5 years of experience as a communication officer or related positions.
· Proficiency in English, Afan Oromo, and Amharic.
· Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
